Pirates pop Burleson Centennial

The Granbury Pirates took a break from District 7-4A tennis competition to host Burleson Centennial Thursday, coming away with a 17-2 victory.

The match could be a prelude to a possible early round playoff contest as Centennial competes in District 7-4A. The two could meet in the area round.

The Pirates improved to 6-3 overall. They returned to district play yesterday, hosting South Hills. Granbury is off to a 2-0 start against 7-4A foes.

Joel Rodgers won 8-0, Peter Mueller won 8-3, Kolby West won 8-2, Noah Smith won 8-0, Josh Smith won 8-2, Trace Chiappe won 8-2.

Girls singles

Elizabeth Morton won 8-2, Alex Jenny won 8-0, Katey Singer won 8-1, Keelyn Taylor won 8-2, Deanna Rupp lost 6-1, 6-2; Cadence Chiappe won 8-6.

Boys doubles

Mueller/Smith won 8-1, Rodgers/N. Smith 8-0, T. Chiappe/West won 8-0.

Girls doubles

Jenny/Morton won 8-1, Taylor/Singer won 8-2, Rupp/Chiappe won 8-1.

Mixed doubles

Kindel/Steinman lost 8-2.

Granbury record – 6-3.
