The Granbury varsity boys golf team competed at Sky Creek Ranch in Keller recently, finishing in fifth place out of 12 teams.
The Pirates shot 354-365 for a 719 total.
“I rank this course harder than Horseshoe (Bay, near Austin),” said coach Steve Ward.
“The guys competed hard and hit good shots. It is just a mean course. No margin for error on any shots.”
No one among the 60 players entered broke 80 on the final day.
The Pirates were led by Brady Wright, who shot 84-89 for a 173. Baker Whtie posted a 179 (87-92), Zach Wall shot 179 (90-89), Riley Summer finished with a 189 (93-96) and Luke Elliott posted a 193 (98-95).
The top four scores in each round comprised the team total.
The Pirates are playing at Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene this weekend in the Regional Preview. That course is also the site of the 4A Region I Tournament in a few weeks.
