Pioneers win eighth consecutive

January 25, 2014

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers remained perfect in Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A play Tuesday with an 81-57 victory at Denton Selwyn.

The Pioneers (8-2, 5-0 in district) turned a close game into a big lead with a 19-9 run over the course of the second quarter. That gave them a 40-26 halftime advantage.

“Denton Selwyn really got after us early,” said NCTA coach Kirby Rasco. “They were undefeated in district, as were we, and played good.”

Stefan Rosic led NCTA with 27 points, while Marvin Ivanovic was right behind with 25.

“We had some early 3s that helped us separate, and our size and depth wore them down late in the game,” said Rasco.

The Pioneers have won eight straight since starting the season 0-2.
