The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers began their bye week a little early Friday.
NCTA disposed of Wichita Falls Christian 46-0 at home. The game was called at halftime because of six-man football’s 45-point mercy rule. It was their sixth mercy rule win of the season, as they opened with five straight such victories.
Josh Torres led NCTA (8-1, 1-1 in TAPPS Six-Man Division II District 2) with 167 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just seven carries. He also returned a kickoff 52 yards for a touchdown.
Quarterback Angel Tercero returned after missing last week to go 3-for-5 for 115 yards and two touchdowns. He has yet to throw an interception this season.
He did, however, have an interception while playing defense.
“Overall our kids played well, executed well on offense and held them to under 120 yards total offense,” said first-year NTCA coach Kirby Rasco. “ Their quarterback was very good, and our defense had pressure on him and we covered well all night.”
The Pioneers are off this week before finishing the regular season at Brownwood Victory Life on Nov. 9
“We hope to get all the aches and pains cleared up,” said Rasco.
