For a second consecutive week turnovers plagued the North Central Texas Academy Pioneers as they dropped to 0-2 with their second road loss, 66-28 at Blum Friday.

“We played a lot better this week than last,” said head coach Kirby Rasco. “We moved the ball well, but again, turned the ball over three times.”

Blum (2-0) broke the game open with a 30-8 outburst in the second quarter.

The Pioneers turned the ball over six times in their season-opening 63-16 loss at Zephyr.

Tyler Hoskins had a big game rushing the ball for the Pioneers Friday, collecting 139 yards and scoring a pair of touchdowns on 20 carries.

“He ran tough all night,” Rasco said of Hoskins.

Elias Demissie led the NCTA defense with 14 tackles, while Drayton Williams had an interception.

“Elias played all over the field,” said Rasco.

Demissie also caught a pass for 42 yards.

The Pioneers finished with 203 yards rushing and 115 yards passing.
