The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers began play in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District 2-A with a 61-23 thumping of Brownwood Victory Life recently.

The Pioneers improved to 4-2 overall.

Stefan Rosic scored 23 points and Marvin Ivanovic added 22 points for the Pioneers.

NCTA wasted no time in jumping out to a 21-3 lead after the first quarter and increased its lead to 39-7 at the half.

It was their first game back following a break of more than three weeks for the Christmas holidays. They last played on Dec. 16.

“We played pretty well for our first game back after the holidays with no practice,” said NCTA coach Kirby Rasco. “The kids played hard and are really starting to play some good defense.”
