NCTA golf 3rd at state

The North Central Texas Academy Pioneers finished third in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class A State Golf Tournament.

The Pioneers posted an 818 (411-407) over two days on the Cottonwood Creek course in Waco. Lubbock Southcrest won with a 775 (391-384), followed by Wichita Falls Notre Dame at 788 (393-395).

Zach Pate led NCTA, shooting 184 (90-94), finishing fifth overall individually. Jared Dodson shot 204 (104-100), Duranger Nutt posted a 210 (104-106), and Cale Dodson had a 220 (113-107).

“Our kids played pretty consistently at district and state,” said NCTA coach Kirby Rasco. “Our freshman, Zach Pate, stepped up and played really well at the state tournament.

“We had two beautiful days of golf at Cottonwood.”

The Pioneers qualified for state after finishing third in district and third at regionals.
