NCTA girls bounce back

December 21, 2013

In a game described by coach Jodie Stevens as “two totally different halves,” the North Central Texas Lady Pioneers ended a four-game losing streak with a 37-34 win at Westlake Academy Monday.

Westlake, in a defensive struggle, took a 13-3 halftime lead. NCTA did not have a field goal, hitting three free throws. Then, both teams found their offense in the second half.

In another interesting twist, only two Lady Pioneers scored. Ester Udonsi led with 21 and Carolina Bianchi added 16.

“Nothing would fall for us. In the second half our shots started falling and our defense picked up the pace,” said Stevens, who is in her first year as NCTA head coach.
