Meeting a Rangers great

The Granbury Pirates baseball team was recognized recently at the Granbury Chamber of Commerce luncheon at deCordova Bend Country Club. Guest speaker for the event was Jim Sundberg (shirt with Rangers logo), senior executive vice president of the Texas Rangers and president of the team’s foundation. Sundberg was a catcher in Major League Baseball from 1974-89 with the Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals and Chicago Cubs. The GHS boys recently wrapped up their season after advancing to the Class 4A area playoffs (second round) for the first time since 2009. Team members are Daniel Arnett, Caleb Bendewald, Harrison Campbell, Tristan Fallin, Landon Gray, Nathan Hickey, Kasey Hubbard, Payton Rhodes, Brady Retz, Parker Scanlan, Davis Shea, Daniel Stephens, Tyler Titus, Miles Wagner, Thomas Weaver, Landon Weatherly and Tanner Winn.
