Lipan runners clock personal-best times

As the team prepares for its upcoming District 16-A Meet, several Lipan Lady Indians posted personal-best times Monday at the Priddy Invitational cross country meet recently.

Lanie Roberts ran the 2-mile course at Goldthwaite Country club in 12 minutes and 58 seconds, a personal best.

Other career bests for the Lady Indians included Shelby Bontke, 44th, 13:49; Catherine Thormann, 68th, 14:23; Rhiana Michou, 92nd, 15:01; and Kristen Drewry, 116th, 15:39.

Shauna Coleman clocked a 15:03 for 96th.

The Lipan boys were led by Jace Walker, who was 62nd with a 22:40 over 3.1 miles. Kyle Mercer ran a 26:26 for 73rd, and Tanden Foust was 74th in 26:43.

“It is exciting to see the team running season-best times at this time of year,” said Lipan coach Ray Michou. “We look forward to competing well at district. Our goal is always to run for a district championship and to qualify for the next level, the regional meet.”

The district meet is Monday, also at Goldthwaite Country Club.
