The Lipan Lady Indians ran to a second-place finish in Division II at the Brock Invitational Cross Country Meet recently.
The Lady Indians, who scored 84 points, were led by Lanie Roberts. She ran the 2-mile course in 13 minutes and 26 seconds.
Shelby Bontke of the Lady Indians was also in the top 10, finishing eighth with a time of 14:49. Catherine Thormann was 11th in 15:03, Shauna Coleman was 29th in 16:05, Rhiana Michou took 47th in 16:36, and Kristen Drewry was 54th with a 16:46.
The meet had a total of 118 girls and 129 boys.
Joel Rice led the Lipan boys, placing 56th with a 21:22 over 3.1 miles. Jace Walker was 67th in 21:57.
Other Lipan runners and their times were Kyle Mercer, 112th in 24:20; and Tanden Foust, 23rd in 26:53.
WILLIAMS 14TH FOR TOLAR
Also competing at Brock were Tolar and North Central Texas Academy.
Tim Williams placed 14th in Division I as the lone Rattler boy. He ran the 3.1-mile course in 18:11.
Jon Durant led North Central Texas, taking 20th with an 18:37.
“He is still showing some consistency on his times for the most part, and still looks good in the district standings,” Tolar coach Benita Carlton said of Williams.
Also for NCTA’s boys, Aaron Bui was 30th in 19:15, Zach Pate was 40th in 19:46, and Christian Downing was 57th in 26:45.
The Tolar girls placed 10th as a team, led by Morgan Thomas’ 40th-place individual finish. She clocked a 14:40.
Also for Tolar, Marlee Thomas was 70th in 16:02.67, Kailey Brackin was 71st in 16:03.21, Hannah Peregrino posted a 16:08 for 73rd, Logan Chandler’s 16:23 was 78th, Meredith Caudle’s 16:51 was 86th, and Shelby Newton’s 17:18 was 92nd.
Sara Etherington ran for NCTA’s girls and was 85th with a time of 16:40.
