Lipan girls drop 2nd straight

The Lipan Lady Indians suffered a rare second consecutive loss Tuesday night when they fell 58-49 at Bowie.
The Lady Indians (13-2) led 40-28 with 10 minutes to play. Then, they went cold while Bowie ended the contest with a 30-9 run.
“I really don’t know what you say to that,” Lipan coach Amber Branson said.
Lanie Roberts led Lipan with 20 points, while Shauna Coleman posted a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds).
The game was decided at the free throw line, where Bowie was 21-for-26 and Lipan was 5-for-10.
Each team made about half of their 2-point baskets (Lipan 19-for-39, Bowie 17-for-34), and struggled from 3-point range (Lipan 2-for-17, Bowie 1-for-8).
Bowie won the rebound battle 35-25 with a 9-8 offensive advantage. The Lady Indians forced 22 turnovers and committed 15 of their own.
Lipan’s other loss was 71-60 at home to Merkel on Dec. 7. Merkel is the No. 1 Class 2A team in the state, while Lipan is No. 1 in Class A Division II.
