A fourth-quarter rally pulled the Tolar Lady Rattlers out of a deficit for a much-needed 40-35 triumph over Maypearl Friday night at home.
Hannah Peregrino had a team-high 15 points and 11 rebounds, plus two steals for Tolar. Breanna Rogers scored 13 points and added four rebounds.
The win kept the Lady Rattlers (14-14 overall, 5-5 in 10-2A) alive in the postseason hunt.
The Lady Rattlers trailed 12-10 entering the second quarter, and were down 21-15 at halftime.
Tolar crawled back into it, starting in the third quarter when the Lady Rattlers outscored the visitors 9-4. Tolar had a 16-10 advantage in the final period.
“We had slow start to the game,” Tolar coach Benita Carlton said. “We didn’t take the lead until late in the fourth quarter. We battled back, and the girls knew the importance of the game and never gave up. I’m very proud of how we competed.”
Godley leads the girls standings with an 8-1 mark. Maypearl and Whitney are both 7-3. Also standing in Tolar’s way of making it into the top three for a playoff berth is 6-4 Grandview.
