Lady Rattlers let one slip away

November 16, 2013

The Tolar Lady Rattlers let a double-digit lead slip away Tuesday night, falling at home to Strawn, 37-35.

The Lady Greyhounds are ranked eighth in the state in Class A Division II by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Hannah Peregrino led Tolar with 14 points and nine rebounds. Carly Knapp added eight boards.

“This was a disappointing loss,” Tolar coach Benita Carlton said. “You can’t win very many games going 1-10 from the line. We have to learn from this game and move on.”

The Lady Rattlers (1-2) led 20-10 at the half, but Strawn used a 17-6 third-quarter run to take a 27-26 lead into the final quarter.

The Lady Rattlers hit 17 of 41 field goals (41 percent), but missed all seven of their 3-point attempts.

Tolar’s rebounds were evenly distributed with 17 offensive and 18 defensive. Ten Lady Rattlers grabbed at least one rebound.

Five Lady Rattlers combined for 14 steals, led by Shelby Nunley and Peregrino with five each.

The Lady Rattlers turned the ball over 14 times.
