The Tolar Lady Rattlers softball team ended its four-game losing streak and remained in playoff contention in District 10-2A with a 15-0 rout of Rio Vista Tuesday.
The Lady Rattlers improved to 13-11 overall and to 3-4 in league play. They are locked in a battle with Godley and Whitney for the third and final playoff berth from the league.
Tolar, which has not been to the playoffs since 2009 when they were still in Class 2A, split its two district games with Godley and lost to Whitney at home in the firt round. The Lady Rattlers finish the regular season at Whitney next Friday.
Tolar pitcher Taya Vasquez threw a no-hitter over three innings before the game was called because of the University Interscholastic League mercy rule.
Meanwhile, the Lady Rattlers managed just a pair of triples from Ali Isom and Hannah Lee. They took advantage of 14 walks and numerous hit batters, howevers, along with several Rio Vista errors.
Isom also drove in three runs.
“The fight for third place is on, and we’re fighting for the W every game we play this second round,” said Tolar coach Christi Collie.
