The Tolar Lady Rattlers spotted visiting Rio Vista an early one-run lead, and stormed back for a 14-4 District 10-2A softball victory Tuesday.
The victory evened the Lady Rattlers’ district record at 1-1 (5-7 overall).
“Every win is extremely important, and it feels good to have a win,” said Tolar coach Christy Collie.
“I’m pleased with the way the girls are playing. All the girls are hitting well, and our defense id molding together.”
Tolar pitchers Tatum Newton and Staci Ashley combined for a four-hitter.
But it was the Tolar offense that took command of the contest. The Lady Rattlers tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first, followed by eight runs in the second and five in the third.
The game was called after the top of the fifth inning because of the University Interscholastic League’s 10-run mercy rule.
Searra Mace led Tolar at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs batted in. She also had four of their eight stolen bases.
Haley Webb reached base four times, going 2-for-2 with a double, 2 RBIs and two walks.
Hannah Lee had a double, triple, two RBIs, and was hit by a pitch.
As a team, the Lady Rattlers were 8-for-9 stealing bases.
