Lady Pirates run away from W. Hills

The Granbury Lady Pirates made short work of Western Hills Tuesday, winning 60-27.

Morgan Northcutt led Granbury with 22 points and six assists. Bryce Frank scored 18 and grabbed nine rebounds.

Kennedy Shelstead led the defense with seven steals. Also, Lily thornton had seven assists.

“We needed a big victory like this,” said Lady Pirate coach Leta Andrews.

“It it was nice to go on the road and get another district win.”

The victory left the Lady Pirates tied for first place with Aledo (12-1, 3-0) and Trimble Tech (11-2, 3-0).

The Lady Pirates added two games during the holiday season. They will travel to Fort Worth to play Dunbar next Saturday (Dec. 28) and return home to face Burleson on Dec. 30.

They already had a game scheduled at home with Gainesville on Dec. 31.

The newly scheduled games were made possible when the Cowtown Classic got canceled by the recent ice storm.

“These girls need to play,” said Andrews.

The Lady Pirates were wrapping up the district play for 2013 last night at home against Southwest. They return to league play Jan. 3 against Trimble Tech in Fort Worth.
