Lady Indians win ninth straight

Led By Shauna Coleman’s dominant night, the Lipan Lady Indians won their ninth consecutive basketball game Tuesday night, defeating visiting Keene 79-45.

Coleman scored 28 points, grabbed 16 rebounds (seven offensive), had five steals and three blocks as Lipan improved to 9-1.

The Lady Indians are ranked second in the state in Class A Division II by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Their only loss was a close one to five-time defending Class 2A state champion Brock (ranked second in the state this season) to open the season.

Lanie Roberts also had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Bryanna Phelps added 13 points.

The teams combined to shoot 104 field goals (Lipan 62, Keene 42), including 29 3-pointers by Lipan (made five). They also combined to shoot 69 free throws (Keene 38, Lipan 31).
