Sometimes all it takes is a little time to gel.
The Lipan Indians opened the season with a 15-6 loss at home to Ranger.
Friday, the Indians went to Ranger and won 16-8.
The win improved the Indians to 5-3 in District 10-A. They are in third place, and the top three teams advance to the playoffs.
Trevor Hedeman led Lipan offensively, going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Clifton Campbell had a triple.
“The big difference is some practice time and some game time,” said Lipan coach Mike Permenter.
“The first time we played we only had three days of practice and they were playing game number 10.”
The Indians are trying to make back-to-back playoff appearances. Last season they posted what is believed to be the first playoff win in school history, dropping a best-of-three series in three games to Chico.
