Grandview ends Lady Rattlers’ season

February 6, 2013

The Tolar Lady Rattlers fell to Grandview Friday night, 43-39, closing out their 2012-2013 basketball season.

The Lady Rattlers finished at 6-6 in district play, and 15-15 overall.

“I’m very proud of our girls, and how they’ve competed all season,” first-year Tolar coach Benita Carlton said. “We did not have an easy schedule, and stayed close with some pretty tough teams.”

Hannah Peregrino paced the Lady Rattlers with 16 points, 12 rebounds and three steals in their season final. Teammate Breanna Rogers added 11 points.

Tolar trailed by only one point (10-9) after the first quarter, but fell behind 24-12 by intermission. The Lady Rattlers inched back into contention in the second half, particularly in the fourth quarter when they outscored the Lady Zebras 18-12.

Carlton said she is looking forward to next season.

“Our JV team did well this season,” Carlton said. “I look for good things to come from them in the years to come. We have seven returners next year. We will still be young, with some varsity experience.”
