The road to an eighth consecutive district team tennis championship for Aledo runs through Granbury this year.
Following the Pirates 19-0 shellacking of Southwest Tuesday, they (10-5 overall) and Aledo (12-1 overall) find themselves 5-0 in league play. The teams meet in a winner-take-all affair Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the GHS courts.
Both teams have coasted through league play this season. Last fall Aledo captured the team tennis title, but Granbury had the better spring performance, sending more players to regionals.
Granbury is seeking a third consecutive trip to the regional tournament, something never done before in school history.
The winner between Granbury and Aledo will get an automatic bye into the Area 7-8A Tournament. The loser join the rest of the district in a tournament to see who the other three area qualifiers will be.
