The Granbury Lady Pirates won their fourth consecutive softball game Tuesday, routing visiting Trimble Tech 14-2.
The Lady Pirates also moved above .500 for the first time all season (13-12), while improving to 9-2 in District 7-4A. They are prepared to go to the postseason for the first time since 2010.
“We are clicking at the right time,” said coach Chad Kimberling. “And with three district games remaining (including last night), we are looking to make a charge at getting that number two playoff spot.”
The Lady Pirates are tied with Western Hills for third place in district, two games behind unbeaten league leader Aledo. The Lady Pirates travel to Aledo Tuesday and host Western Hills Friday, the teams that have handed them their only two district losses.
Whitley Tipton led Granbury at the plate Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with a double and triple. Loryn also had three hits.
“All the girls are contributing. The starting nine are really playing together, and the bench players are doing their job when asked to come into a game,” said Kimberling.
In addition to their two tough games next week, the Lady Pirates are hosting 2A powerhouse Brock today at 11 a.m.
“It is going to be softball galore here for the next few days, but now is when we have to use all the conditioning we did in the gall and be the team that can outlast the other,” said Kimberling.
