A little time off can be nice.
But in the case of the Granbury Pirates softball team, it can also be quite trying.
The Lady Pirates, who are chasing a high finish in the District 7-4A standings, were scheduled to play at O.D. Wyatt Tuesday.
The game was bumped back to Thursday because of a scheduling confusion with the Fort Worth school district.
So Thursday, the Lady Pirates travel to Fort Worth. Rains came.
The game was postponed again, until 11 o’clock this morning. Which means it is a good thing their originally scheduled game at Brock was canceled earlier in the week.
“This week has been interesting with the postponements and a cancellation,” said Lady Pirate coach Mallory Smith.
Finally, weather permitting, the Lady Pirates returned to action yesterday evening at home against Arlington Heights.
It was Granbury’s first game action in a week.
Through it all, the Lady Pirates find themselves closing in on a playoff berth and maingaining their collision course with South Hills next Friday at home.
If, as expected, the Lady Pirates win at home against Trimble Tech Tuesday and South Hills loses at home to Aledo, the Lady Pirates and Lady Scorpions will be playing for second place.
When the teams met in Fort Worth in the first round, the Lady Scorpions won 2-1 despite being outhit 6-1 by Granbury.
