The Granbury Lady Pirates returned home Friday night, dropping a 2-0 soccer contest to Arlington Heights at Pirate Stadium.
The game featured seven cards issued, including three red cards (two to Heights, one to Granbury), according to Lady Pirate coach David Winkleman. As a result, both teams played shorthanded.
“We kind of got out of our game,” said Winkleman, whose team fell to 6-6-1 with a third straight loss.
“We didn’t make much of our opportunities.”
Heights scored on a corner kick and another time from up close.
“We couldn’t find an answer,” said Winkleman, whose team is struggling with injuries.
Winkleman praised the play of his defense.
The Lady Pirates open District 12-4A play next Tuesday in Joshua. Granbury has won back-to-back district championships.
