The Granbury Lady Pirates began the second half of District 7-4A softball the same way they did the first, with a no-hit rout of Fort Worth Southwest.
The game was called after three innings with the Lady Pirates ahead 21-0. During that time, however, Granbury banged out 17 hits and Lady Pirate pitcher Destini Lopez was dominant.
In addition, Lady Pirate batters drew six walks.
It was Lopez’s third no-hitter in league play as Granbury (10-12 overall) moved into a tie for second place with Western Hills, both with 6-2 district marks.
Aledo leads district with an 8-0 record.
“It was nice to get back to winning,” said Granbury coach Chad Kimberling, whose team had dropped back-to-back games to Aledo (9-0) and Western Hills (4-1) after starting 5-0 in district.
“We hit the ball well, and Destini pitched another great game. Hopefully we can get back on a run from here.”
Whitley Tipton provided an offensive highlight for the Lady Pirates with her sixth home run of the season (including pool games).
Taelyn Beadle and Bailey Cole each had three hits for Granbury, including a double by Beadle.
