FW South Hills Scorpions (3-0)

7:30 p.m. Friday, Handley Field, Fort Worth

Last week – Both teams were idle.

Last season – Granbury 7-4, 5-2 in 7-4A (third), lost in bidistrict. South Hills 4-6, 2-5 in 7-4A (tied for fifth). Pirates won 41-20 at home.

Returning starters – Granbury 7 offensive/7 defensive, South Hills 3 offensive/3 defensive.

Granbury players to watch – QB Ryan Suitt (31-of-56, 610 yards, 5 TDs, 4 rushing TDs, 1 int), WR Nick Doughty (10 catches, 221 yards, 1 TD), DB/KR Kevin Hennard (1 int., nearly 40 yards per return).

South Hills players to watch – QB Tracin Wallace (33-of-48, 446 yards, 6 TDs, 1 int.; 222 rushing yards, 5 TDs), WR Tylan Wallace (14 catches, 300 yards, 3 TDs), WR Treylon LaSalle (14 catches, 270 yards, 3 TDs), DE Ben Herrera.

How Granbury wins the game – Avoid allowing big plays to the Scorpions, who are averaging over 35 points and over 400 yards (177 rushing, 225 passing). When the Pirates have the ball, hold onto it, as they have done all season (one turnover), and control the clock – another thing they have done well this season (an advantage of five minutes). The Pirates proved in their 44-41 wild victory against Mansfield Lake Ridge they can run up and down the field with speedy teams and beat them, but as coach Scotty Pugh said, they’d rather not have to.
