Flyers solid in run to regionals

July 6, 2013

The Hood County Flyers got a glimpse last weekend of what the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Region IV Track Meet will be like.

And if their performance at Little Elm is any indication, the first-year program has a chance to do quite well at regionals in The Colony next weekend.

“We had another very successful outing,” said coach Wade Beard. “This meet is a good representation of what kind of competition will be at regionals.”

Through their first three meets, the Flyers have won 87 medals.

At Little Elm, J.J. Lee, competing in the Boys U8 division, led the Flyers with five medals. He won gold in the 400-meter run, long jump and as part of the 400 relay, took silver in the high jump and bronze in the 800.

Logan Stein, in the Boys U10 category, won gold in the long jump, 400 and high jump, along with a silver in the 800.

Allison Lee won a pair of gold medals in the Girls U14 division, taking first in the high jump with a personal record of 4 feet, 9 inches, along with winning the 400.

The top three or four from regionals, depending on the amount of entries, will advance to the TAAF Games of Texas in Corpus Christi July 25-28.
