Aubrey Ezell’s assault on the Granbury Lady Pirate volleyball record books continued Friday night in her team’s 25-14, 25-15, 25-14 victory at Fort Worth South Hills.
Ezell served eight aces. It gives her 209 for her career, eclipsing the mark of 204 set by former Lady Pirate Chelsea White, a 2010 graduate.
Ezell has 101 aces this season. She is taking aim on the single-season record of 105 set by White in 2009.
Ezell, only a junior, already has the career record for assists with 2,612 after delivering 25 Friday. She has 930 this season and is chasing the record of 1,078, also set by White in 2009.
“She’s had an awesome career thus far, and there’s a lot more to come. There’s no denying she’s one of the best setters and servers around,” said Lady Pirate coach Tammy Clark.
Granbury (28-4, 4-1 in 7-4A) will host O.D. Wyatt Friday as part of homecoming. Clark said her team understands keeping its focus is a must.
“As long as you keep everything in its place, you can enjoy the festivities, win the game and have the greatest of weeks,” she said.
