The Cornerstone Crusaders improved to 3-2 in their first varsity baseball season with a 15-2 thumping of the Fort Worth Nazarene junior varsity Tuesday.
Kyle Hutto came within a home run of hitting for the cycle, collecting a single, double and triple in his four at-bats for. Jared Rudd went 4-for-4, all singles, and Justin Barrington went 3-for-4 with a double, and one of Dylon Overstreet’s two hits was a home run.
In all, the Crusaders banged out 19 hits, including six for extra bases.
Pitchers Dalton Dakil and Rudd combined to throw a four-hitter.
“All in all, the program is coming along very well,” said coach Tyler Johnson. “The boys are learning.
“For a first-year program, I would say that our baseball knowledge and talent is very high.”
