Crusaders’ season ends at Tribe Consolidated
One week after setting a school record for points in game, the Cornerstone Crusaders saw their season come to an end with a 70-20 area-round loss at Bastrop Tribe Consoliidated in a Texas Christian Athletic League playoff.
The Crusaders (6-6) found themselves down 36-6 after the first quarter and 49-20 at the half. The game was called due to six-man football’s mercy rule after Consolidated (8-2) scored 21 third-quarter points.
Cornerstone quarterback Forrest Copenhaver put in a yeoman effort in the loss, completing 15 of 19 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns.
The Crusaders defeated Crosby Victory and Life in bidistrict 96-47.
The Crusaders have advanced to the second round of the playoffs in each of their first two varsity seasons.
