The Cornerstone Crusaders will once again enter the playoffs as the runner-up in their district after falling 62-12 at home to Stephenville Faith Friday night.

The Crusaders (5-5 overall) finished 2-1 in the Texas Christian Athletic League Six-Man Division II District 1 standings. Faith (9-0), the defending state champions, won district with a 3-0 mark.

The Crusaders had their share of highlights despite the loss to Faith. Brenden Brawley and Johnny Delzeit combined to average over 10 yards per carry and four receivers combined to catch 10 passes.

“It is obvious that Stephenville Faith has a really good team,” said Cornerstone coach Bobby Johnson. “Several times I had six sophomores against their seniors.

“I have never been beat and been so pumped about a team.”
