Baird rallies past Indians late

Baird ended the Lipan Indians’ three-game winning streak in baseball with a come-from-behind 6-4 District 10-2A home victory Tuesday.

Lipan scored twice in the top of the fifth for a 4-3 lead, but Baird bounced back with three in the bottom of the inning.

“The offense couldn’t get any timely hits,” said Lipan coach Mike Permenter.

The Indians (3-2, 2-2 in 10-2A) got 11 strikeouts from pitcher Lance Ferguson. He also had a pair of doubles and an RBI, as did Brady Nelson.

The Indians had won three straight, outscoring their opponents 35-11. They had not surrendered a run in nine innings before Baird scored three in the second inning.
