Back to school, back to play

With summer quickly coming to a close, the Granbury Parks and Recreation Department adult leagues are going to take a break to let families transition the school routine back into play.

This is a great opportunity to form a team for one of our leagues. All the adult leagues GPRD organize are ages 16 and up. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a liability waiver stating they are allowed to participate in a GPRD league.

Granbury Parks and Recreation upcoming leagues being offered include:

Adult Softball

Mixed League and Men’s League (Recreational and Competitive) – Monday evenings for mixed with Sept. 16 start, Wednesday evenings for Men with Sept. 18 start. Both play eight-game seasons with single-eliminatiion tournament. Cost is $300 per team. Early registration ends Sept. 5 and late registration ends Sept. 11 with an additional $25 fee.


Adult Men’s – Ages 16 and up, games will be played at Decker Gym on Tuesday evenings. Projected start date Sept. 10, six-game season plus double-elimiation tournament. Cost is $400 per team with a maximum of eight teams. Registration deadline is Sept. 4.


Eligible ages are 16 and up.

The projected start date for the next six-game season is Sept. 22. They finish with a double-elimination tournament. Cost is $225 per team and registration deadline is Sept. 17.


Be on the lookout for the new skate park to be under construction soon. City staff hopes to break ground in the next couple months. The final design will be presented to the parks and recreation board at their next regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 9.
