Area runners earn regionals

The Lipan Lady Indians will be sending their entire team to regional competition in Grand Prairie next Saturday (Nov. 2) after finishing second in the District 16-A Meet in Goldthwaite this past Monday.

The Lady Indians were led by Lanie Roberts, who captured the individual championship. She ran the 2-mile course in 12:56.

Roberts was one of four Lady Indians to post a top-10 finish. Shelby Bontke was seventh with a time of 13:56, Catherine Thormann came in ninth in 13:59, and Shauna Coleman was clocked in 14 minutes to place ninth.

Two other Lady Indians finished in the top 20. Nicole Reid was 14th with a 14:32, and Bryanna Phelps was 19th with a 15:08.


Tim Williams became the latest member of the Williams family to advance to regionals in cross country Wednesday when he finished second in the District 10-2A Meet in Keene.

The Tolar runner finished the 3.1-mile course in 16:45. He will now run at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie next Saturday.

Also for the Rattlers, Darrell Boatman was 31st with a time of 21:10.

For the Lady Rattlers, Morgan Thomas was 26th with a 14:46 over 2 miles, Marlee Thomas was 31st in 17:01, and Shelby Newton was 32nd in 17:02.
