The Tolar Rattlers rebounded strong this baseball season, nearly making the playoffs.
As a result, seven members of the Rattlers were named to the All-10-2A Team by the district’s coaches.
Sophomores Dusty Kimmell and Dakota Endsley were named to the second team as a pitcher and infielder, respectively. Joining them on the second team are seniors Oompa Glavin on the infield and Alfredo Triana in the outfield.
Seniors Cole Chism, infield, and outfielder Landon Morris received honorable mention, as did sophomore outfielder Tyler McMillen.
“I felt that all of our boys who were selected were well-deserved,” said Rattler coach Trey Holcomb. “With us graduating as many as we are, I was especially pleased to see Tyler and Dakota honored.”
Kimmell posted a 2-0 record with two saves on the mound and was among the most challenging pitchers to score on in district with a 1.09 earned run average. His WHIP (walk-hits per innings pitched) was 0.62.
In addition, Kimmell batted .326 with a home run and 17 runs batted in.
Endsley topped the Rattler selections in hitting with a .338 average. He blasted seven doubles and drove in 18 runs.
Glavin, batting leadoff, hit .329, scored 21 runs, stole bases and had 15 RBIs. On the mound he was 3-1 with a 1.44 WHIP.
Triana made getting hit by a pitch an art, getting bonked 11 times. In addition, he stole 17 bases and drove in 18 runs.
The Rattlers finished with a 13-11 record and were 4-6 in District 10-2A. They were in the playoff race until the final week.
