Think you’ll have enough candy?

Some 41 million trick-or-treaters could be on the loose tonight. The U.S. Census Bureau said its estimate includes children between the ages of 5 and 14 nationwide.

With all of the trick-or-treating events planned in Hood County, costumed children will certainly get their fill of Halloween candy. Fun events are planned by local churches, merchants and organizations.

The following local activities take place today.

Pumpkin Patch

Sponsored by First Christian Church, supports mission trips and summer camps for youth.

Location: 2109 W. Highway 377

Hours: Noon until dark.


Harbor Lake Nursing and Rehab invites you to a Spook-Tacular time with a kid-friendly haunted house, safe trick or treating and a bounce house. A costume contest is planned. Hot dogs, popcorn, chips and drinks will be available.

Location: 1300 2nd St.

Hours: 3-6 p.m. Call 817-408-3800 with the number of people who will attend.


Locals and visitors are invited to bring their little ones to the historic square and trick-or-treat in participating shops and restaurants downtown.

Location: Granbury square.

Hours: 3-5 p.m.


Trunk-or-Treat is an annual evening of fun, treats and eats at Granbury First United Methodist Church. Festivities begin with a family meal in the Christian Life Center followed by “Trunk or Treat” at 6 p.m.

Location: Granbury First UMC, 301 Loop 567,

Hours: Begins at 5:30 p.m. with a family meal.


Acton United Methodist Church and the Granbury Parks and Recreation Department sponsor a free Halloween event in the parking lot by the Dana Vollmer Municipal Swim Center. Children will enjoy the Trunk-R-Treat activity, a bounce house and participation by the Granbury Police Department, the Rainbow Room, Child Advocacy Center, Lake Granbury Medical Center and more.

Location: Parking lot near the Dana Vollmer Municipal Swim Center at City Park on Park Street, 817-326-4242.

Hours: 6-8 p.m.


Gateway Community Church presents a Light in the Dark Festival. Includes old-fashioned hayride, bounce house, cupcake walk and Trunk-or-Treat. Hors d’oeuvres will be available, along with “Halloweenies” served on buns with condiments.

Hours: Begins at 6 p.m.


First Assembly of God Church plans Trunk-or-Treat tailgate style in the lighted parking lot.

Location: 1900 W. Highway 377

Hours: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
