The city of Granbury’s lawsuit against the Jay Mills construction company will not be heard in court this month after all. The lawsuit pertains to boat slips near Hewlett Park on East Pearl Street, across from the Hilton Garden Inn and Granbury Resort Conference Center.
City Manager Wayne McKethan said the court date has been moved to February to give lawyers for both sides more time to prepare their arguments.
City and construction company officials had been working toward a settlement in the latter part of the summer, but the parties were unable to agree.
The disagreement is tied to the types of materials the city wants used in the construction of the boat slips. McKethan said the city wants to make sure that materials are used that will be resistant to the damaging effects of salt water.
