The Texas Transportation Commission has approved a half million dollars in grant funds for Granbury Regional Airport. The money will be used to fund design, engineering and construction of pavement improvements.
The grant award is part of plans to expand Granbury’s airport so that corporate jets will be able to land. City officials have said they expect the revamped airport to be important to economic development.
The grant money is coming through the Aviation Facilities Grant Program of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
According to a media statement from TxDOT, the state agency is awarding about $60 million to community airports to fund such projects as the one planned for Granbury.
