The capital murder trial of Hood County resident Randy Keith Seibel began early this week in Judge Mike Thomas’ Criminal District Court No. 4 in Fort Worth.

Seibel, 38, is one of four co-defendants accused in connection with two murders committed at a Fort Worth convenience store on March 23, 2010.

Kwame Rockwell, the first of the four defendants to go to trial, was sentenced to death in January. Tarrant County prosecutors elected not to seek the death penalty for Seibel.

Seibel, of the 4100 block of Newport Bay Court in the Port Ridglea West subdivision east of Granbury, would automatically be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole if found guilty, according to Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Melody McDonald.

Seibel’s trial could continue into early next week McDonald said.
