A motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon marked the second major accident on Tin Top Highway within four days.
Dana Kjilgaard, 47, of Granbury, suffered multiple severe injuries when the motorcycle he was riding left the roadway and crashed into a tree Sunday. As of Monday, he was listed in critical condition in the ICU at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
Kjilgaard was northbound and was headed into a major curve when the motorcycle left the road and crashed at about 4:30 p.m. A man who was driving by on another motorcycle spotted Kjilgaard’s motorcycle and called 911.
On Nov. 7, a three-vehicle accident in the 3900 block of Tin Top, about a mile north of Thorp Spring, resulted in the death of John Marshal McNeill, 31, of the Arrowhead Shores subdivision.
A passenger in another vehicle involved in that accident, Sharon Cantu, 21, of the Rancho Brazos subdivision, suffered a brain injury and multiple bone fractures, the DPS report states. Cantu was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where her initial condition was listed as critical according to a DPS.
Cantu’s family later elected to not allow the hospital to give updates on her medical status for anyone inquiring. The driver of the Nissan Altima Sharon Cantu was in, Jennifer Cantu, was not transported for treatment.
Two others in the Nov. 7 crash, relatives of McNeill, were treated and released at John Peter Smith, according to the DPS.
