Former Granbury High School tennis players Mason Luedeker and Allison Hedgecock have been courting since Oct. 11, 2006.
On Friday, Luedeker had the advantage when he proposed to Hedgecock in a surprise move at the high school tennis courts.
Luedeker made arrangements for her to meet him at the tennis courts.
While that is not unusual, since they frequently play tennis, what was unusual this time is that he took three dozen roses, removed most of the petals and carefully placed them on the ground to create a heart-shaped area where he would kneel and ask her to be his wife.
“Allison’s favorite color is red, and she likes roses,” said Luedeker. “She really likes ‘The Bachelor,’ and they give the girls a red rose. Plus she is always telling me I never get her flowers,” he laughed.
Luedeker had the ring design custom-made from photos Allison found on Pinterest.
“I am lucky to have an aunt who is jeweler, so I took the photos (from Pinterest) to her, told her what we liked and didn’t like about each one,” said Luedeker.
The result was not only stunning but was the deciding point when she accepted.
They are clearly both winners in this game.
