Granbury School Board President Charlie Cloud said he plans to resign from the board in the next few weeks because he is moving to Weatherford.
School board members have to reside in the school district they serve.
Cloud said the move will put him closer to family members. Travel also was a consideration.
“With my job as major (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) I travel a bunch, and it’s always east or west on IH-20. It (the move) just makes sense.”
Weatherford is on 20.
Cloud said he will miss Granbury.
“I love Granbury and the folks,” he said. “It’s just time for a new chapter in my life.”
Cloud and Micky Shearon are the most experienced trustees. Cloud has served 11 years. His term expires in November 2013.
According to school spokesman Jeff Meador, the board has the option of calling a special election or appointing someone until the next election this November.
Cloud’s slot would be up for its normal election in November 2013 for a full three-year term.
