Schedule For Texas Independence Day Celebration

February 27, 2013

Saturday’s Texas Independence Day will be celebrated this weekend in Granbury, and heroes from the 1836 Battle of the Alamo will be remembered.

The celebration is planned Saturday and Sunday on the square, Langdon Center and Granbury Square Plaza.

Vendors around the square include a beekeeper, goat milk soap and “historic” type booths not commonly found at festivals on the square.

The parade at 11 Saturday morning will be led with a team of six white horses bearing the six flags that have flown over Texas. Entries include several mounted groups, historic wagons and a stagecoach.

Four chuckwagons will be located behind the Nutt House for a cook-off and demonstrations all day Saturday.

American Indian and cowboy reenactors will have an encampment on the grounds of Langdon Center.

Live music and story tellers will be featured on the square both days.
