Rough night in Glen Rose

Lilley Vander Zee and the Granbury Lady Pirates saw their basketball season come to an end Monday night with a 55-37 loss to District 7-4A rival in the 4A Region I quarterfinals at Glen Rose High School. Vander Zee, a senior, ended her Lady Pirate career with with four playoff appearances in four seasons, including a trip to the regional semifinals as a junior, the best basketball season for a Lady Pirates squad since the 2002-03 season. Vander Zee has signed to play for the University of Texas next season. The Lady Pirates finished with a 22-14 record and were third in district, while district champion Aledo (28-7) moves on to the regional tournament in Snyder to face Amarillo Palo Duro or Canyon Friday.
