A land dedication ceremony for the new county-owned recreation center is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3. The facility will be built near Acton Middle School.
During Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Commissioners Court, commissioners approved the architectural agreement for the $10 million facility, which will be staffed and managed by the YMCA of Hood County. Todd Baker, senior vice president of the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth, said that the agreement “will allow us to begin the final design of the facility, which will allow us to hire for the construction of that facility.”
Brinkley Sargent Architects out of Dallas will design the building. The site will include an indoor competition pool for swim meets.
