Pedestrian killed on Highway 377

A 68-year-old Granbury man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident Thursday night on Highway 377 in Granbury in which he was struck by a sport utility vehicle, according to officials.

John Henry Blue was hit by a 2010 Ford driven in the westbound lane by an 84-year-old Granbury woman, said Deputy Chief Alan Hines of the Granbury Police Department.

Hines said that Blue was attempting to cross the highway in the 4400 block of Highway 377 East in front of Ferrell Gas and “failed to yield” right of way to the vehicle.

“The investigation revealed that alcohol might be a factor (on the part of the pedestrian). At this point, no charges will be filed,” Hines said, noting that the body was transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The accident was called in to 911 shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Hines said that crossing a multi-lane roadway is dangerous. “If you cross a highway it is always better to use an intersection that is controlled by a traffic light.”
