The Christmas season begins in Granbury with the 22nd annual Night of Lights Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. Friday. This year’s theme is “Jesus, the Gift of Life and Light.”
The parade lineup is at 5 p.m. at the school administration parking lot on Pearl Street.
“We plan to step off before 7 p.m. so the parade arrives on the square at 7,” said Pastor Larry Dickson, parade organizer for the Lake Granbury Ministerial Alliance.
Parade floats will be judged at the lineup, and winners will be named for Best of Parade, Best Use of Theme, Best Use of Lights and Best Youth Entry.
A stage will be on the square to showcase Christmas singing at 5:30, prior to the parade.
Candles will be distributed around the square just before the parade starts.
The parade ends with the arrival of Santa Claus by fire truck. The jolly fellow takes a seat at the gazebo for pictures and to hear requests from children.
The city’s Christmas lights are turned on as the parade concludes. Many stores on the square stay open late.
