Montgomery earns blue ribbon at Fort Worth Stock Show

January 30, 2013

Granbury FFA President Austin Montgomery excelled at the Fort Worth Stock Show with agricultural mechanics projects.

The Granbury High School senior’s fire pit was a blue ribbon project and won its class in the Outdoor and Recreation division. The project was named to the top four in consideration for grand champion honors from among 400 at the show.

Montgomery was awarded premium monies, two welding machines from Lincoln Welders and other prizes from sponsors for his fire pit. This is on top of winning grand champion at the Hood County Junior Livestock Show in early January.

His other project was a two-bale hay trailer, which also earned blue ribbon honors and previously won reserve champion at the Hood County show.

Following his GHS graduation in May, Montgomery plans to attend Tarleton State University to pursue a major in agriculture business.
