Man, woman accused of trying to sell baby

A man and a woman were booked in the Hood County Jail Thursday, facing a third-degree felony charge of sale of a child, officials said.

Randall Scott Bonneville, 24, and Heather Janette Wall, 25, with separate Hurst addresses, are accused of trying to sell a 1-month-old baby in Hood County to a local resident for $3,000, District Attorney Rob Christian said.

Wall and Bonneville, who is the child’s biological father, were sought on a Hood County warrant by members of the Hood County Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Texas Rangers after the Hood County man reported the child being offered for sale. Christian said the Hood County man is related to one of the suspects.

The suspects were picked up by Hood County deputies at the Henderson County Jail in Athens, where they had been incarcerated since their Jan. 15 arrest at an apartment complex in Mabank, Christian said.

“The baby was later placed with her biological mother by CPS (Children’s Protective Services),” Christian said. “An investigation began in Granbury on Jan. 14 when a Hood County resident reported that both suspects were offering the 1-month-old child for adoption, for money. The suspects were located in an apartment complex in Mabank and were arrested without incident.”

Christian noted that the baby was unharmed.

“Bonneville and Wall allegedly took the child from the possession of the biological mother without her consent (when) the child was approximately 1 week old,” the D.A. stated.

Bond was not set for the suspects as of press time.
