A 76-year-old Granbury Sunday school teacher who pleaded guilty to sexually molesting underage boys was sentenced Tuesday to four 10-year prison sentences by District Judge Ralph Walton.

District Attorney Rob Christian said that three male victims, who were about 14 years old when the sexual abuse occurred about six years ago, testified about the offenses.

The victims met Bobby Thomas Thompson as a result of attending the same church.

The pastor of the church testified that sometimes Thompson would preach sermons in his absence and also taught some Sunday school classes.

Christian said that one of the victims told a pastor at the church about the abuse, and the pastor alerted the police.

The four 10-year sentences will run concurrently, meaning that it amounts to a 10-year sentence. Thompson will be eligible for parole in five years.

One of the young men testified that he and some of his friends used to make frequent visits to the Thompson home, and he sometimes gave them gifts. One of the other victims testified he was 13 when he met Thompson. He stated that Thompson bought him shoes and other items, and even paid for an online educational course he took.
